Date Posted: 23 February 2012 0 CommentsFormer President and Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Thursday morning entered a "not guilty" plea in her arraignment on an electoral sabotage charge filed against her by the Commission on Elections.
Mrs Arroyo left Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City at around 7 o'clock with a police convoy escorting her to the Pasay Regional Trial Court.
The convoy included 10 vehicles from the Quezon City Police Department and the National Capital Regional Police Office. The security personnel included Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) teams, an ambulance and five motorcycle escorts from the PNP Highway Patrol Group.
The former president arrived at the RTC Branch 112 and proceeded to the sala of Judge Jesus Mupas, wearing an all-white dress and a neck brace. She returned to VMMC just before 10 in the morning.
The Philippine National Police deployed an estimated 700 of its personnel to secure the vicinity.
The pre-trial proceedings are scheduled for April 19.
