TNT vs SMB: The Finals
Date Posted: 18 January 2011 33 CommentsThe top two teams in the eliminations of the PBA’s All-Filipino Cup have made it all the way to the finals.
The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters defeated the tired and understaffed B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados and the San Miguel Beermen proved their mettle against the resurgent Barangay Ginebra Kings.
Both teams finished with a 11-3 slate in the eliminations and both made it to the finals by beating their opponents 4-2 in the semis.
The Tropang Texters will rely on the steady play of skipper Jimmy Alapag and they also hope that Harvey Carey breaks off from a slump that he suffered in the series against the Llamados.
The Beermen on the other hand will depend of Jay Washington who is having an MVP season. If the games are close, San Miguel has Alex Cabagnot to rescue them as the point guard has proven that he is the most clutch player in the PBA so far.
The match-up at the forward positions will also be interesting. Kelly Williams and Jared Dillinger will take on the duo of Washington and Arwind Santos. While at the center spot, it will be a battle fitting of WWE status as Dorian Pena and Ali Peek lock horns.
The series will also feature two good coaches in Ato Agustin and Chot Reyes. Agustin is in his first year of head coaching duties in the PBA. His success in the collegiate ranks and his reputation as a “player’s coach” are his best assets. Reyes on the other hand is a flashy and highly emotional coach who uses both qualities to inspire his players.

Senate to probe BSP, AMLC on PEPs
