Tiongson expected to present Corona bank signature specimens
Date Posted: 14 February 2012 0 CommentsAnabel Tiongson, manager of the Philippine Savings Bank Katipunan Avenue branch, is expected to take the witness stand Tuesday to present bank documents on orders of the impeachment court, including signature specimens of Chief Justice Renato Corona related to his alleged foreign currency deposits.
On Monday, Tiongson had told the Senate sitting as an impeachment court that a photocopy of the signature card shown to her was not issued by her branch and, therefore, must be that of a fake document.
This signature card tended to indicate Corona’s alleged dollar-denominated accounts, with one supposedly having an initial deposit of $700,000. Tiongson was asked to explain how the signature card could be fake when her boss, PSBank President Pascual Garcia, earlier confirmed that the subject accounts are existing.
The impeachment court is also expected to press further on how the supposedly confidential bank document was leaked to the media and the prosecution panel.
The prosecution is also being directed to explain where they got the documents.
