Tupas: Article 2 is proven without Corona's dollar accounts
Date Posted: 13 February 2012 0 CommentsRepresentative Niel Tupas Jr, the Chief Prosecutor in the Corona Impeachment trial, said Monday that Article 2 of the impeachment complaint can still stand even if the Senate impeachment court honors the temporary restraining order of the Supreme Court on the disclosure of Corona's PS Bank Dollar accounts.
Although the prosecution prefers to open Corona's dollar accounts to complete the presentation of evidence, Tupas asserted, they have proven their case with the presentation in court of Corona's properties as well as multi-million Pesos in bank deposits that did not correspond to his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth.
Tupas disclosed that he has not yet seen the TRO, but understands that it is expected to be released within the day.
In a related development, the Deputy Prosecutor, Representative Rodolfo Farinas slammed the defense lawyers for claiming the night before that Malacanang is in touch with Senator-Judges to persuade them to defy the TRO.
Farinas said that the defense panel's allegation shows the behavior unbecoming of lawyers because they are putting senators in a bad light.
